“Spiritual Practice Through Knowledge – The Imperishable Treasure”#Bhagavad Gita Day 23 Discourse

Chesina Jnana Archana – Chedani Sampada
Bhagavad Gita Day 23 Discourse

🌿 Part 1 — Nature of Mind & Path of Abhyasa–Vairagya

🕉 Opening Verse

Chanchalam hi manah Krishna
Pramathi balavad dridham
Tasyaham nigraham manye
Vayor iva sudushkaram
— Bhagavad Gita 6.34

🔹 Problem — Mind is both the tool and the problem

Arjuna’s complaint:

👉 Mind is restless
👉 It cannot be controlled
👉 It is like the wind

Great truth:

👉 Mind alone does sadhana
👉 Mind alone experiences the result

If this is forgotten, everything is wasted.

🔹 World vs Paramatma

Only two exist:

👉 World
👉 Paramatma

Both are experienced only through the mind.

🔹 Two states of mind

👉 Savikalpa mind
👉 Nirvikalpa mind

✔ Savikalpa → grasps the world
✔ Nirvikalpa → grasps the Absolute

⚠ Problem:

👉 Mind is not steady
👉 So it cannot grasp Paramatma

🔹 Why is restlessness needed?

👉 Without restlessness:
Family, relationships, world cannot be experienced

👉 For world → restless mind
👉 For Paramatma → still mind

🔹 Real problem

👉 We are habituated to grasp the world
👉 Now we must grasp Paramatma

That is why it is difficult.

🔹 Path — Karma Yoga & Dhyana Yoga

1️⃣ Karma Yoga
👉 From individual to total
👉 Reduces restlessness

2️⃣ Dhyana Yoga
👉 Direct training of the mind
👉 Real solution

🔹 Key principle

👉 If mind is controlled:
Speech is controlled
Actions are controlled

👉 Everything is set

🕉 Krishna’s answer

Asamshayam Mahabaho
Mano durnigraham chalam
Abhyasena tu Kaunteya
Vairagyena cha grihyate
— Bhagavad Gita 6.35

🔹 Krishna agrees

✔ Mind is restless
✔ Hard to control

👉 But there is a solution

🔹 Two medicines

1️⃣ Abhyasa
2️⃣ Vairagya

🔹 Meaning of Abhyasa

👉 Repeatedly directing mind in one direction

👉 Definition:
Sajatiya pratyaya pravaha

👉 Same thought
👉 Again and again
👉 Continuously

🔹 Meaning of Vairagya

👉 Not renunciation
👉 But moving away

👉 It comes through Abhyasa

🔹 Bus example

👉 Vijayawada → World
👉 Hyderabad → Paramatma
👉 Bus → Mind

👉 Moving toward Hyderabad = Abhyasa
👉 Moving away from Vijayawada = Vairagya

🔹 Key point

👉 Abhyasa brings Vairagya automatically

🔹 Householder teaching

👉 No need to leave family

👉 Just:
✔ Do necessary work
✔ Speak necessary words
✔ Stay inwardly detached

🕉 Verse

Yuktahara viharasya
Yuktacheshtasya karmasu
Yuktasvapnavabodhasya
Yogo bhavati duhkha-ha
— Bhagavad Gita 6.17

👉 Balance in life is the base for mind control

🔹 True Abhyasa

👉 Single thought: Brahman

👉 Then:
Worldly thoughts stop

👉 That is Vairagya

🔹 Analogy

👉 Tent:
Camel and Arab cannot stay together

👉 Same:
Brahman thought and world cannot coexist

🔹 Final principle

👉 Abhyasa = moving closer
👉 Vairagya = moving away

👉 Both are one process

🌿 Part 2 — Perfection of Abhyasa & Mystery of Mithya World

🔹 Abhyasa vs Vairagya

✔ Abhyasa → complete result
✔ Vairagya → incomplete

🔹 Why?

👉 Abhyasa gives:
Closer to Brahman + away from world

👉 Vairagya only gives:
Leaving

🔹 Where is Paramatma?

👉 Not separate from world

🕉 Verse

Sarva-bhuta-stham atmanam
Sarva-bhutani chatmani
— Bhagavad Gita 6.29

👉 Brahman is in everything
👉 Everything is in Brahman

🔹 Example

👉 Gold and ornaments

🔹 Two mistakes of mind

❌ Forget universal (Brahman)
❌ Hold temporary (world)

🔹 Result

❌ Lose Brahman
❌ Lose world

🔹 Solution

👉 Shift from particular → universal

🔹 Formula

👉 Remove name & form
👉 What remains = Sat-Chit

🔹 Real Abhyasa

👉 Remembering the universal

🔹 Vairagya

👉 Comes automatically

🕉 Verse

Asamyatatmana yogo dushprapa
Vashyatmana tu yatata shakya
— Bhagavad Gita 6.36

👉 Controlled mind → Yoga possible

🔹 Arjuna’s question

🕉 Verse

Ayatih shraddhayo-petah
Yogacchalita-manasah
— Bhagavad Gita 6.37

👉 What happens if a seeker dies before realization?

🌿 Part 3 — Fate of Yoga Bhrashta

🔹 Key doubt

👉 Seeker dies before knowledge

🔹 Yoga result

👉 Not Moksha
👉 Samyak Darshana (knowledge)

🔹 Krishna’s assurance

Naiva iha na amutra vinashah
— 6.40

👉 No loss at all

Na hi kalyana-krit kashchit
Durgatim gacchati

👉 No good effort is wasted

🔹 After death

👉 Body falls
👉 Vasanas continue

🔹 Next

👉 Higher lokas
👉 Then rebirth

🕉 Verses

Shuchinam shrimatam gehe
— 6.41

Athava yoginam eva kule
— 6.42

👉 Noble or yogic family birth

🔹 Best birth

👉 In wise family

🌿 Part 4 — Samskaras & Rebirth

🔹 Key question

👉 What happens to past effort?

🔹 Answer

👉 It continues

🕉 Verse

Tattra tam buddhi samyogam
— 6.43

👉 Same mental setup returns

🔹 Example

👉 Journey continues from where stopped

🔹 Samskara

👉 Carries forward

🕉 Verse

Purvabhyasena tenaiva
Hriyate hyavasho’pi sah
— 6.44

👉 Past practice pulls you forward

🔹 Two samskaras

👉 Dharma
👉 Adharma

👉 Stronger one dominates

🔹 But

👉 Good samskara never dies

🔹 Effort

🕉 Verse

Prayatnad yatamanas tu
Yogi samsuddha kilbishah
— 6.45

👉 Gradual purification

🔹 Final

👉 Samyak Darshana → Moksha

🔹 Greatest yogi

🕉 Verse

Yoginam api sarvesham
Mad-gatena antar-atmana
— 6.47

👉 One who meditates on Paramatma with faith

🔥 Final Message

👉 No effort is wasted
👉 Samskara never dies
👉 Continue the journey

Om Shanti Shanti Shantih
