Introduction This section explains the five elements (pañca-bhūtas), the principle of Viveka Pañcaka (fivefold discrimination), and the truth of Advaita. Goal: To recognize the nature of the five elements, to see how we become entangled through them, and how to gain freedom from those entanglements through discrimination (viveka). --- 2. Root Idea — Shruti The Upanishads proclaim: “saddvaitam śrutam” — the truth of non-duality has been heard. The substratum is only Sat (Being, Existence, Brahman). But our experience appears entangled in the five elements. Key insight from the Guru: Sat (Being) is the common reality, One without a second.
