Ishvara, the Supreme Lord, is all-knowing, all-powerful, and completely free. Yet, due to His own power called Maya, He appears as a limited being — a Jiva. This is not a real transformation, but only an appearance, a reflection in ignorance. Just as the Sun’s reflection appears as many in different pots of water, Ishvara seems to become many as Jivas — yet He remains one and unchanged. 2️⃣ What is Maya? Maya means that which makes the unreal appear real. Just as a rope appears as a snake in dim light, Brahman (the Absolute) appears as this world. The rope never changes into a snake — similarly, Brahman never becomes the world.
