“When the disease disappears, health shines forth.”#Brahma Sutras
🌿 Part 1 — Core Meaning
🧭 What is the subject?
👉 What is Moksha?
👉 Does it come as something new?
👉 Or is it what already exists becoming revealed?
This is the central inquiry of this part.
🪔 1️⃣ Is Moksha something newly produced?
The sūtra says:
👉 Sampadya Āvirbhāvaḥ
Meaning:
❌ Moksha is not something newly created
✅ It is what already exists becoming manifest
Example:
When clouds move away, the sun becomes visible
👉 Did the sun get newly born?
❌ No
👉 Only the clouds disappeared
That is Moksha
🌼 2️⃣ First condition for Moksha — purification
The Upanishad says:
👉 One must become Samprasāda
Meaning:
The mind must become completely pure
Why?
Because we are identified with five:
Body
Prāṇa
Senses
Mind
Ego
As long as these dominate:
👉 The idea “I am the body” will not go
First step of Moksha:
👉 “I am not these”
🪞 3️⃣ What does “leaving the body” mean?
This is a crucial clarity 👇
It does not mean physically leaving the body
👉 It means dropping identification
Difference:
“I am the body” → Bondage
“This is mine” → workable
That is why:
👉 Dropping possessiveness is easier
👉 Dropping ego is harder
🔆 4️⃣ What is “Paranjyoti”?
The Upanishad says:
👉 Leaving the body
👉 One attains the Supreme Light
Paranjyoti means:
🌟 Consciousness
🌟 Self
🌟 Brahman
Meaning:
Dropping what you think you are
Recognizing what you truly are
🧘 5️⃣ Final stage — abiding in one’s true nature
👉 Svena rūpeṇa abhinishpadyate
Meaning:
You don’t become something new
👉 What you truly are becomes evident
❓ 6️⃣ The big doubt here
👉 Is Moksha a new state?
👉 Or the same state without change?
Logic:
If no change → Bondage = Moksha
If change → New state
This is the inquiry
🎯 Core point of this part
Moksha is:
❌ Not a new experience
❌ Not a new world
❌ Not a new body
✅ Ignorance removed
✅ True nature revealed
🌸 One-line summary
👉 Bondage = wrong identity
👉 Moksha = true identity
🪷 Example
In a dream you are poor
When you wake up
You didn’t newly become rich
👉 You always were
Only the dream ended
That is Moksha
✨ Final essence
Moksha is:
👉 Not attainment
👉 Revelation
👉 Not change
👉 Understanding
👉 Not a journey
👉 Recognition
🌿 Part 2 — Core Meaning
🧭 Main question
👉 Is Moksha a new gain?
👉 Or a shift in perception?
🪔 1️⃣ “Moksha has no horns”
Meaning:
👉 Moksha is not a dramatic new state
It is
👉 What you already are
Difference:
🟥 Bondage = wrong notion
🟩 Moksha = right notion
🪞 2️⃣ Bondage and Moksha exist in the same place
Example:
Hall full of chairs → filled
Hall empty → empty
👉 Did the hall change?
❌ No
Similarly:
Mind full → bondage
Mind empty → Moksha
🧠 3️⃣ Where is bondage?
Not in the world
👉 In the mind
World doesn’t bind
Identification binds
🔆 4️⃣ What doesn’t happen in Moksha?
👉 No new world
👉 No new body
👉 No reward from God
Moksha is not a result
🌼 5️⃣ “Pure Self” meaning
You appear as the Self alone
Name
Form
Qualities
Actions
All drop
👉 Pure “I” remains
🧘 6️⃣ Where is the difference?
Now:
👉 “I + attributes”
In Moksha:
👉 “I alone”
⚖️ 7️⃣ Real difference
Bondage | Moksha
I + mine | I alone
Identification | Witness
Mixed | Pure
🪷 8️⃣ Central teaching
👉 “I as mine = bondage”
👉 “Mine as I = Moksha”
Separation = bondage
Non-difference = Moksha
🎯 Core message
Moksha is:
❌ Not something gained
❌ Not a changed state
✅ Awareness
✅ Self
🌸 One-line summary
👉 Bondage = ego association
👉 Moksha = pure consciousness
🪷 Example
Dust on a mirror hides your face
Cleaning it
Doesn’t create a new face
👉 It only reveals
That is Moksha
🌿 Part 3 — Summary
🧭 Main theme
👉 Moksha is not gaining
👉 It is removal of bondage
🪔 1️⃣ Scriptural assurance
👉 Muktaḥ pratijñānāt
Scripture promises:
👉 You are already free
Moksha is recognition
🧼 2️⃣ Meaning of “becoming”
No new quality comes
👉 Impurities go
Example:
Mud on the foot washed
No new foot came
Only cleanliness
🧠 3️⃣ Three impurities
1️⃣ Ignorance (waking)
2️⃣ Fear (dream)
3️⃣ Unawareness (deep sleep)
Remove them → Pure awareness
⚖️ 4️⃣ Difference
Bondage | Moksha
Impure awareness | Pure awareness
🌊 5️⃣ Why Moksha isn’t new
Self is always free
Bondage = ignorance
Moksha = removal
🔓 6️⃣ Tiger example
Tiger in a cage
Cage opened
Tiger not newly born
Freedom revealed
🧘 8️⃣ What is bodilessness?
Not physical death
👉 No identification with body
Pleasure and pain don’t touch
🌟 9️⃣ Supreme state
Rising to fullness
👉 Purushottama state
🧩 10️⃣ Three causes of bondage
1️⃣ Ignorance
2️⃣ Desire
3️⃣ Karma
Remove → Liberation
🎯 Core message
Moksha:
❌ Not result
❌ Not new
✅ Freedom from bondage
🌸 One-line
👉 Absence of loss = greatest gain
🌼 Part 4 — Summary
🧭 Main idea
👉 Abhinishpadyate = not becoming
👉 Like disease gone, health revealed
🩺 1️⃣ Disease analogy
Disease gone
No new person born
Health revealed
Moksha = ignorance gone
🪔 2️⃣ Meaning of “becoming”
Not new state
👉 Abiding in true nature
🪞 3️⃣ Where are bondage & Moksha?
In awareness
Two faces of one consciousness
---
🌌 4️⃣ What is Paranjyoti?
Not physical light
👉 Sense of “I am”
Consciousness
🔗 6️⃣ Jiva–Brahman relation
No joining
No separation
Always one
🌊 7️⃣ River–ocean example
Name and form drop
Water remains
Jiva = Brahman
🪷 8️⃣ Advaitic experience
World remains
Difference dissolves
Everything feels “I”
🧘 9️⃣ Jivanmukti
Others appear
But not separate
Mirror hall → one face many reflections
⚖️ 10️⃣ Final definition
Moksha:
❌ Not union
❌ Not change
❌ Not reaching
👉 Awareness
🕊️ Overall integrated summary
1️⃣ Moksha is not new
2️⃣ Knowledge is recognition
3️⃣ Bondage is ignorance
4️⃣ Brahman is “I”
🌸 One sentence teaching
👉 “The Moksha you seek is what you are.”
