“Bondage in the Particular — Liberation in the Universal”#BrahmaSutras

Part One – The True Foundation of Advaita (In My Own Words)

1️⃣ Where did the Jīva’s original delusion begin?

The jīva has only one fundamental problem:

> “I am trapped inside this body.”

Where did this idea come from?

👉 The mind suggested it
👉 Thought convinced us
👉 Habit made it strong

And here the Guru silently asks the decisive question:

> “Are you inside the body?
Or is the body inside you?”

If this question has no clear answer,
the jīva keeps wandering endlessly.

2️⃣ “Sāmānya – Viśeṣa”: The Gateway to Advaita

These are not ordinary words.
They are technical Vedāntic terms.

🔹 What is Sāmānya?

Sāmānya means:

> That which is uniformly present everywhere, without distinction.

It includes:

The seer (dṛk)

The seen (dṛśya)

And that which contains both

That is Brahman.

Look at the ocean:

Water is the same everywhere

There is no higher or lower water

That water is sāmānya.

🔹 What is Viśeṣa?

Differences appearing within sāmānya are viśeṣas.

Waves

Foam

Bubbles

Swells

These are forms on water, not water itself.

👉 Where does viśeṣa arise? In sāmānya itself.
👉 Where does viśeṣa exist? In sāmānya itself.
👉 Where does viśeṣa dissolve? Back into sāmānya.

This is where Advaita truly begins.

3️⃣ The Mistake: “Where is Sāmānya? Where is Viśeṣa?”

A common delusion:

> “Sāmānya is somewhere else;
viśeṣa is here.”

No.

👉 Wherever sāmānya is,
👉 viśeṣa is also there.

What is Dvaita?

Separating sāmānya
and treating viśeṣa as independent.

What is Advaita?

Knowing that they are inseparable.

4️⃣ Why Holding Viśeṣa Leads to Loss

You explained this beautifully.

Viśeṣa:

Does not stay

Keeps changing

Eventually disappears

When you hold it:

👉 When it moves,
👉 you move with it.

That is:

Suffering

Fear

Saṁsāra

This is loss (kṣāma).

5️⃣ Why Holding Sāmānya Leads to Well-being

Sāmānya:

Remains

Does not change

Does not perish

When you hold sāmānya:

Viśeṣas come and go

But fear does not arise

It is like:

> Standing on the seashore
watching waves.

Jump into the ocean → danger
Stand on the shore → divine play (līlā)

👉 This is the Advaitic way of living.

6️⃣ What is the Real Sāmānya? — The Turning Point 🔥

Now comes the Guru’s core question:

> “What is that which pervades everything in this world?”

This question defeats:

Scientists

Artists

Ritualists

Dualists

Viśiṣṭādvaitins

👉 Only Advaita answers it.

The answer:

> “The awareness that ‘something exists’.”

Is the mic there? → awareness of “is”
Is the mic absent? → awareness of “is not”

Existence and non-existence change,
but the awareness does not.

That awareness is sāmānya.

7️⃣ Awareness Itself Is the Ātman 🔑

This awareness is:

Not gross

Not subtle

Formless

Yet directly experienced

It is:

Cit

Consciousness

Ātman

As you said:

> “I = Cit
Existence = Sat”

Sat and Cit are inseparable.

Wherever awareness is,
the sense of “I” is present.

8️⃣ The Real Answer to the Atheist

The atheist says:

> “The body is visible.
Knowledge is not.”

Reply:

A bulb is visible,
but light is not.

Without light, the bulb shows nothing.

Similarly:

The body appears,
but only because of awareness.

Formless does not appear as an object,
but its experience is unavoidable.

You know emptiness, don’t you?
How did you know the formless void?

👉 Through awareness.

9️⃣ Final Seal of the First Part

> “If this understanding settles in the mind,
that itself is liberation.”

Liberation is not something that comes later.
Not after death.

👉 The stabilization of this insight itself is mokṣa.

Part Two – “Am I a Viśeṣa Seeing Viśeṣas?”

👉 This is the central question of the entire teaching.

1️⃣ Krishna Escaped – Why Did I Fall?

Krishna declares in the Gītā:

I have no birth

I have no death

The jīva too has no birth or death

So the question arises:

> “Then why am I born?
Why do I die?”

Guru’s one-line answer:

> “You are, but you imagine yourself.”

That’s all.

2️⃣ The Two ‘I’s — The Core Deception

There are two ‘I’s:

The universal ‘I’ (sāmānya)

The limited ‘I’ (viśeṣa)

Sāmānya ‘I’

Pervades all bodies

Changeless

Eternal

This is the kṣetrajña.

Viśeṣa ‘I’

Limited to one body

Bound to one mind

Born, changes, dies

👉 You became this.
👉 That is the fall.

3️⃣ What Does It Mean to Become Viśeṣa?

The moment you say:

> “I am the body”

You become viśeṣa.

Your vision becomes viśeṣa.
Your world becomes viśeṣa.

👉 Seer is viśeṣa
👉 Seen is viśeṣa

Here the world is born.
Here saṁsāra begins.

4️⃣ Does This Apply to Everyone?

Yes — terrifying truth.

Madman

Common man

Scientist

Artist

Devotee

Ritualist

Yogi

All are the same.

Because all identify as the body.

Even the devotee says:

> “I am here; God is there.”

Both become viśeṣas.

5️⃣ “You Became Viśeṣa, So the World Is Not Yours”

You had 100 acres.

You believed you had only 10.

The remaining 90 — the world claimed.

Likewise:

“I am only this body.”

The rest of existence slipped away.

This is the kṣetra–kṣetrajña divide.

6️⃣ Because You Became Viśeṣa, God Also Became Viśeṣa

Harsh, but logical.

A viśeṣa can only see viśeṣas.

7️⃣ That Which Observes Change Is Changeless

You observe:

Childhood gone

Youth gone

Old age arrived

What observes change cannot itself change.

That is:

The witness

The upadraṣṭā

Consciousness

8️⃣ Who Are You — Now?

Not future liberation.
Your present identity.

Body?
Breath?
Mind?
Ego?

Or:

> “The all-pervading awareness?”

Here silence begins.
Here Advaita works.

---

9️⃣ Core of Part Two

> If you are viśeṣa, everything appears as viśeṣa.
If you stand as sāmānya, everything merges into you.

Part Three – The Core Axis

> “Are you a viśeṣa seeing viśeṣas?”

This is not a question — it is a verdict.

1️⃣ When the Seer Is Viśeṣa, the World Becomes Vast

You shrank into a body.
The universe expanded.

Not God’s creation — your error.

2️⃣ Why Does This Vast Universe Appear to You?

Because you became small.

3️⃣ You Must Pervade the Seen

That is why Vāmadeva declared:

> “I am the Sun.
I am the Moon.”

If the sun still appears to you,
you have not become it.

4️⃣ Viśeṣa-to-Viśeṣa Relation Is Saṁsāra

Birth, life, death — all viśeṣas.

Everything momentary.

Because you grasped viśeṣa.

5️⃣ The Atheist’s Fall

Rejects sāmānya.

Ends in great deep sleep (mahā-suṣupti).

6️⃣ The Theist’s Fall

Reserves another viśeṣa — heaven.

Ends in dream (mahā-svapna).

7️⃣ True Wakefulness

Not this waking state.

True wakefulness is Turīya.

8️⃣ Verdict of Part Three

> As long as you are viśeṣa, birth and death are inevitable.
The moment you stand as sāmānya, birth and death become impossible.

Part Four – The Treatment

The problem is not the world.
The responsibility is not with the seen.

> The responsibility is the seer’s.

1️⃣ What Does “Becoming Sāmānya” Mean?

Not leaving the body.
Not running away.
Not worship.
Not chanting.

Seeing form = becoming viśeṣa.

Your Brahman is saguṇa
if you still see form.

2️⃣ Where Viśeṣa Began

“I am the body.”
“I am the mind.”

Hence:

> Neti, Neti

But not negation alone.

Affirm:

> “I am the awareness of existence itself.”

3️⃣ Is the Body in Awareness or Awareness in the Body?

Body appears in awareness.

Awareness does not appear in body.

Awareness is the mirror.
World and body are reflections.

4️⃣ Advaita Stands or Falls Here

If awareness is inside the body,
Advaita collapses.

5️⃣ Practical Becoming of Sāmānya

“I am not body, mind, breath.
I am the awareness that observes them.”

Form drops.
Limits dissolve.

Body becomes ornament.
World becomes ornaments.
You are gold.

6️⃣ Dissolution of Seer–Seen Division

You are in the seer.
You are in the seen.

7️⃣ Why Birth–Life–Death Vanish

Birth is for viśeṣa.
Death is for viśeṣa.

The all-pervading cannot be born or die.

8️⃣ Final Judgment

> Atheist — deep sleep
Theist — dream

Only sāmānya is true wakefulness.

Final Line

> When you become sāmānya itself,
birth, life, and death become irrelevant to you.
