“Brahman Is Not Outside – You Are That”#VedantaPanchadashi

**Part One –

Sat–Chit–Sukha: Recognizing Brahman Not Outside, But Within**

The Guru begins with absolute clarity:

👉 Brahman has only three attributes. There is no fourth.

They are:

Sat – Existence

Chit – Consciousness / Awareness

Sukha (Ananda) – Bliss

These are not three separate qualities.
They are one indivisible nature.

Normally, when we hear the word attribute, we think:

Substance is one

Qualities are separate

But Advaita breaks this assumption completely.

👉 There is no substance without attributes
👉 Attributes never exist apart from the substance
👉 Wherever the substance exists, its attributes are present

This is not a theory.
This is experiential truth.

The Microphone Example

The Guru gives a simple example — a microphone.

A microphone has:

Color

Shape

Hardness

Coolness

If you remove all these qualities and try to show the “microphone” itself —
👉 Nothing remains.

Meaning:

👉 A microphone exists only with its qualities
👉 There is no microphone apart from its qualities

The same applies to:

The world

The individual

Brahman

What Is Brahman, Then?

Brahman is not a distant God somewhere else.

Brahman is:

👉 Asti – “It exists”
👉 Bhati – “It is known / shines”
👉 Priyam – “It is dear / blissful”

Only when these three are together does anything appear as “real”.

The Guru explains the fivefold analysis:

1. Asti – existence

2. Bhati – awareness

3. Priyam – joy / liking

4. Nama – name

5. Rupa – form

👉 The first three belong to Brahman
👉 The last two belong to the world

So whatever object you see in the world —
👉 without Brahman, it cannot even appear.

“Where Is Brahman?” – The Wrong Question

Asking “Where is Brahman?” itself is wrong.

It is like asking:
👉 “Where is space?”

Mountains exist.
Oceans exist.
Sun and moon exist.
Even black holes exist.

👉 This sense of “being” itself is Sat.
👉 That Sat is Brahman.

There is no true absence in the world.
Only presence.

Even when you say “this does not exist” —
👉 that thought itself exists.

This is why Shankara asks:

> “Does non-existence exist or not?”

If you say “it does not exist,”
👉 you are already aware of it.
👉 Therefore, it exists.

This is Advaita’s answer even to atheism.

Then Why Are Chit and Sukha Not Experienced?

Here lies the secret of samsara.

👉 Sat is evident everywhere
👉 Chit and Ananda are veiled

That is why:

Life exists, but peace doesn’t

Living continues, but fulfillment doesn’t

This is not philosophy —
👉 it is lived reality.

Where Is Chit?

Not outside.
👉 Within you.

The feeling “I exist” is Chit.
The fact of existence is Sat.

👉 Observe yourself
👉 Turn awareness inward

Then it becomes clear:

👉 What you are searching for is yourself
👉 Searching outside is ignorance
👉 Standing within is knowledge

Kabir said it perfectly:

> The musk deer
runs through the forest
searching for the fragrance
that already exists within it.

Essence of Part One

Brahman has only Sat–Chit–Sukha

These are not attributes, but its very nature

They are indivisible and whole

All “existence” in the world is Brahman

Knowledge and bliss are not outside — they are within

When seeking stops and observation begins, Advaita starts

This is not philosophy.
This is the foundation of direct realization (Aparoksha Anubhuti).

**Part Two –

How Sat and Chit Get Trapped in Fierce and Dull Mental Modes, and Bliss Disappears**

In this part, the Guru performs a profound operation.

👉 He dissolves the world
👉 He dissolves the individual

And leaves us with one question:

> “Where are Sat and Chit in our experience?
Why is bliss missing?”

1. Where Did the World Go?

Everything in the world appears only as “exists”.

👉 Therefore, the entire world dissolves into Sat.

This insight comes from Vidyaranya Swami.

Now the question remains:

> “Where is Chit?”

2. Chit Is Only in You

When you say “I exist” —
👉 that awareness is Chit
👉 that existence is Sat

So:

World = Sat

Individual = Sat + Chit

So far, clear.

3. Where Does the Problem Begin?

Sat and Chit appear only through mental modifications (vrittis).

But which vrittis?

👉 Rajasic (fierce)
👉 Tamasic (dull)

These dominate our lives.

Sat and Chit exist, but they are fragmented, not pervasive.

4. Why Is Bliss Absent?

Because:

👉 In fierce and dull vrittis, bliss cannot manifest

That’s why:

The rich are unhappy

The powerful are unhappy

The religious are unhappy

Even devotees are unhappy

Because they hold fragments, not the whole.

5. Bliss Exists — But Not Together

In deep sleep, bliss exists but is unknown

In waking state, it is known but unstable

Why?

👉 Because of agitated vrittis
👉 Bliss becomes relative

6. When Does Bliss Appear Fully?

👉 In peaceful (Shanta) vritti

The Guru states clearly:

> In the peaceful vritti,
Sat, Chit, and Ananda
manifest together.

7. What Is “Mixed Brahman”?

Our experience now is:

Sat somewhere

Chit somewhere

Bliss hidden

This is Mishra Brahman — mixed Brahman.

Not because Brahman changed,
👉 but because our vision is mixed.

8. What Is Maya Here?

Maya means:

Showing Sat as Asat

Showing Chit as inert

Showing Bliss as sorrow

It creates:

Illusions like mirage

Non-existent horns

False inertness

This triad is:

👉 Asat – Jada – Dukha

9. The Inner Conflict

Shiva = Sat–Chit

Shakti = Maya

In us:

1% awareness

99% illusion

10. The Solution

👉 Don’t curse Maya
👉 Don’t reject Maya

👉 Learn to see wholeness

That is why:

Knowledge is needed

Yoga is needed

Together they lead to pure, unmixed Brahman.

Essence of Part Two

Sat and Chit exist but are fragmented

Bliss is absent due to agitated vrittis

Maya distorts perception

The problem is not Brahman, but the mind

Fragmented vision is bondage

Whole vision is liberation

---

**Part Three –

If Everything Is Brahman, Why Isn’t Sat–Chit–Ananda Seen Everywhere?**

This is the strongest challenge to Advaita.

The Guru asks directly:

> “If everything is Brahman,
why don’t we see Sat–Chit–Ananda everywhere?”

1. Advaita’s Stand

Not creation theory

Not transformation theory

Vivarta (appearance) theory

Brahman never changes.
Only perception does.

2. Material and Efficient Cause Problem

In the world:

Clay = material cause

Potter = efficient cause

Potter doesn’t enter the pot.

But Advaita says:

👉 Brahman is both material and efficient cause

Here:

Sat = clay

Chit = potter

They are one.

3. So Why Not Conscious Mountains?

Answer:

👉 Brahman is not mixed
👉 Your vision is mixed

4. Where Is the Error?

👉 Not in Brahman
👉 Not in the world
👉 In the intellect

Aggressive vision → aggressive world
Dull vision → dull world
Peaceful vision → peaceful world

5. Specialization Is Samsara

Seeing existence as fragmented forms is bondage.

Thinking fragments consciousness into thoughts.

6. Bliss Is Impossible in Fragmentation

Relative pleasure always alternates with pain.

7. The Cure

👉 Shanta vritti – peaceful awareness

Here:

Sat becomes universal

Chit dissolves into Sat

Result: Satchidananda everywhere

Essence of Part Three

Everything is Brahman

Fragmented vision makes it appear fragmented

Peaceful awareness reveals wholeness

Liberation is dropping fragmentation, not gaining something new

---

**Part Four –

From Ignorance to Bliss: When Vision Changes, Life Changes**

This final part revolves around one truth:

> Liberation is not gaining something new.
It is correcting a wrong vision.

1. Study Is Not Enough

Reading without inner readiness creates confusion.

Only intense longing for truth (iccha) leads to clarity.

2. What Must Be Dropped?

The Guru says:

👉 Drop these three ideas:

Non-existence

Inertness

Suffering

These are mental fabrications.

3. Don’t Fight Darkness — Carry Light

Focus on:

Sat

Chit

Ananda

That itself is meditation, yoga, and knowledge.

4. The World Is Not the Problem

Your intellect is.

5. Peace Is Not Silence

Peace means:

Dissolution of name and form

Equality replacing division

6. Progress Is Returning, Not Advancing

From dull → fierce → peaceful

7. Why Negativity Is Explained

Without heat, shade has no value.

8. Four Stages of Meditation

Ultimately, even Brahma-akara vritti dissolves.

Then:

No seer

No seen

Only Bhumananda — infinite bliss

9. Final Teaching

Begin with devotion, end in identity.

Until then, surrender.

One-Line Summary of Part Four

> “Stop trying to change the world.
Change your vision —
the world will reveal itself as Brahman.”
