The World is a Grand Stage of Māyā(The Nondual Secret of Creation, Illusion, and Brahman)
🌕 : The World is a Grand Stage of Māyā
(The Nondual Secret of Creation, Illusion, and Brahman)
🔹 1️⃣ Māyā — The Illusion That Appears as Truth
The universe that we see, touch, and live in feels so real — yet Vedānta says it is neither real nor unreal.
It is Māyā — the inexplicable illusion.
Just as a rope appears as a snake in dim light,
the changeless Brahman appears as this ever-changing world.
The rope is real, the snake is only an appearance —
in the same way, Brahman is real, the world is an appearance.
> “Māyā makes the unreal appear real and hides the real behind the unreal.”
Thus, Māyā veils the Truth (āvaraṇa) and projects the false (vikṣepa).
The world, the body, and the mind — all are waves rising and falling in this vast ocean of Consciousness.
🔹 2️⃣ Creation and Dissolution — One Endless Play
When the seer looks deeply, he realizes —
no real creation ever took place.
> “Does He create because you see?
Or do you see because He creates?”
Both are appearances within the same Consciousness.
Creation (sṛṣṭi), sustenance (sthiti), and dissolution (laya) —
these are not events happening in time;
they are only the play of reflection within Brahman.
Like clouds forming and disappearing in the sky —
the cloud-space (limited view) comes and goes,
but the great sky (Mahākāśa) is ever unchanged.
> “Asaṅgo Brahma — Brahman is unattached.”
It does not act, create, or destroy.
It simply is.
When this is seen, all dualities of creation and destruction dissolve in silence.
🔹 3️⃣ The Dream of Creation — Hiranyagarbha and Virāṭ
Brahman, the Pure Consciousness, when reflected through Māyā,
appears as Īśvara — the cosmic intelligence.
Īśvara, through thought and will (saṅkalpa), becomes Hiraṇyagarbha,
the subtle universe — like the dream state within the mind of the Divine.
Later, that same subtle vision condenses into the Virāṭ,
the visible, physical universe — the waking state of creation.
But even this is not a new reality;
it is like the sunlight revealing the world that already exists in potential.
The universe was not made — it appeared when Consciousness reflected upon Itself.
Thus the Upaniṣads speak in two ways:
> “From That, the space was born…” (gradual creation)
“He created all at once…” (instant creation)
Both are valid only within illusion.
In Truth, no creation ever occurred.
🔹 4️⃣ The Cosmic Form — The Creator Is the Creation
At the highest vision, there is no separation between the Creator and the created.
The Creator Himself is the Creation.
The entire cosmos is His visible form — the Virāṭ Rūpa.
Mountains, rivers, stars, and beings — all are limbs of that Infinite Being.
Every motion, every sound, every experience is His expression.
He did not make the universe;
He became the universe.
> “Sarvam Khalvidam Brahma — All this is indeed Brahman.”
🔹 5️⃣ The Final Vision — Truth Beyond Illusion
Brahman alone exists — pure, infinite, self-luminous.
The world appears within It like a dream within sleep.
When Māyā is understood, illusion loses its hold;
when the Self is known, the play of the world becomes divine music.
🕊️ Essence
> The world appears, yet is not real.
Creation happens, yet never occurred.
Dissolution seems to happen, yet nothing is destroyed.
The One Consciousness alone shines —
as seer, seen, and seeing.
The World is a Grand Stage of Māyā.
The Creator, the Creation, and the Witness are one —
eternal, silent, blissful Brahman.
🕉️ Om Asangam Brahma.
Sarvam Khalvidam Brahma.
Shantih Shantih Shantih.
