The Unified Vision of the Vedas — From Purification to Pure Self-Knowledge-Brihadaranyaka Upanishad
The Unified Vision of the Vedas — From Purification to Pure Self-Knowledge
1️⃣ Negation of Subject–Object–Means (Tripuṭi Erasure)
True Self (Ātman / Brahman) is not the knower, the means of knowing, nor the known.
Guru’s Upadeśa removes all three through “Neti Neti” — leaving only Self-revealing Consciousness.
➡️ Shift attention from objects → to the Light that reveals them.
2️⃣ From Name–Form–Action Impurities → Purity → Perfection → Oneness
Bondage = Identification with names, forms, activities
When seen with Self-awareness, they resolve into Existence–Consciousness–Bliss
Six modifications (birth, existence, growth, change, decay, death) do not belong to the unborn Self
Practice: See each thought as a wave; hold identity with the Ocean of Awareness
3️⃣ Upaniṣadic Liberation: Freedom from Desire, Ignorance & Doership
Ignorance, desire, and action are imposed conditions (upādhis)
Removing them reveals the ever-free Self
Kāmya Karma (desire-driven) is binding → must be dropped
After realization: Jñāna-niṣṭhā (steady abidance) is essential
True attainment = Recognition, not acquisition — Brahman is already the Self
4️⃣ Vedic Harmony: Karma for Purification, Jñāna for Liberation
All Vedas point to Self-realization
Karma & Upāsanā are preparatory — they purify Mind
Upaniṣads give direct knowledge — “Ayam Ātmā Brahma”
Yajña–Dāna–Tapas purify only when desireless
After purity, come to Śravaṇa–Manana–Nididhyāsana for direct realization
Karma does not liberate, it qualifies the seeker for Knowledge
