“The Secret” to Advaita — The Journey to the Self
🕉️ From “The Secret” to Advaita — The Journey to the Self
There once lived a young man named Ramesh.
He had big dreams — wealth, health, love, and recognition.
One day, he read a famous book — “The Secret.”
It said:
> “Your thoughts create your reality.”
“Ask – Believe – Receive.”
Inspired, Ramesh began to practice it every day.
He visualized success, imagined owning a new house, a promotion, a better life.
And soon, things began to change —
He got promoted, bought a new bike, and started feeling powerful and happy.
One evening, filled with excitement, Ramesh went to meet his spiritual master — Guru Swami.
🙏 Ramesh:
“Guruji! I discovered something amazing.
There’s a book called The Secret.
It says our thoughts shape our destiny — and it really works!”
😊 Guru:
“That’s good, Ramesh.
But tell me something —
Who is watching those thoughts?”
Ramesh was puzzled.
“I am the one thinking, Guruji!”
The Guru smiled softly.
“Then you must exist before the thought arises, right?
The thought appears in you and disappears in you.
So who is the real creator — the thought, or the consciousness that sees the thought?”
Ramesh sat silently, confused yet curious.
🌼 Guru:
“Ramesh, The Secret teaches that your mind creates your world.
But Advaita Vedanta goes deeper — it reveals that the mind itself is a part of the creation.
You can create comfort and success with thoughts, yes —
but can you create lasting peace?”
Ramesh thought for a moment.
“No, Guruji… peace seems to come and go.”
🕊️ Guru:
“Exactly.
Peace exists only when the mind — and all its thoughts — dissolve.
What remains then is pure awareness, the Self — the witness of all creation.”
“The Secret tells you:
> ‘The world is a reflection of your thoughts.’
Advaita tells you:
‘Both the thoughts and the world are reflections in your consciousness.’”
🌞 Ramesh:
“So Guruji, are you saying even the world I dream of exists inside me?”
The Guru smiled gently.
“Yes, Ramesh.
When you dream at night, do you go anywhere outside?
The dream world appears within you.
In the same way, this waking world also shines within your consciousness.”
“That’s why Advaita declares:
> ‘You are the creator, the creation, and the witness — all at once.’”
Ramesh sat quietly.
Earlier, his mind was full of desires and goals.
Now, it was silent — clear like a still lake.
For the first time, he felt not excitement, but peace.
The Guru looked at him with compassion and said:
> “The Secret teaches you how to dream beautifully.
Advaita teaches you how to wake up from every dream.”
🌺 Essence of the Story:
The Secret says: “Change your thoughts, and your world changes.”
Advaita says: “Know who you truly are — and the world dissolves in you.”
✨
One gives happiness within the dream.
The other gives bliss beyond the dream.
