🦁 Story 1: The Lion in the Circus — The Journey from Ignorance to Freedom

🌿 Story

Once upon a time, there was a mighty lion — the undisputed king of the forest.
He lived in majesty and silence, fearless and free.
He was answerable to none, the very embodiment of power and peace.

One day, while drinking water at a forest pond, the lion saw his reflection.
He mistook the reflection for another lion — and that was the beginning of illusion (Māyā).
In Vedantic terms, the Supreme Self saw its own reflection and imagined it to be “another” — the Jīva.

Soon after, hunters came to the forest.
They captured the lion and took him to the city, locking him in an iron cage in a circus.
The ringmaster tied him with chains and began training him —
making him jump, bow, and perform tricks for applause.

The king of the forest had become a performer.
He forgot his majesty.
Every time the master blew the whistle, he jumped obediently.
Every time the whip cracked, he bent in fear.

This is the condition of the Jīva —
the Supreme Consciousness caught in the cage of body and mind,
enslaved by Māyā, performing endless roles in the circus of life.

One day, a wise Sage visited the circus.
He looked deeply into the lion’s eyes and said softly,

> “O King! You are not a slave — you are the ruler of the forest!”

Something stirred inside the lion.
A forgotten memory woke up.

That night, when the master blew his whistle, the lion didn’t move.
The whip cracked — yet the lion remained still, gazing into the distance.
A powerful thought arose:

> “Who am I?”

That question shattered the illusion.
With one roar of awakening, the lion broke his chains, smashed open the cage,
and walked out into the open forest.

As his paws touched the earth of the forest,
he was once again the Lion-King — as he always truly was.
